2008 MEN'S GOLF LEAGUES AT COLDWATER GOLF LINKS

THE GAME at Coldwater (9 hole)

Background: The GAME began with a small circle of Barton Creek Resort & Spa members in November of 2003. The idea was to establish a standing game of golf that promotes fun, fellowship, and competition. Within a few weeks, the GAME had grown to over 30 players and many more expressing interests in playing. Coldwater Golf Links will provide a block of tee times for THE GAME weekly on Thursday afternoons.

Who can play: The game is for anyone who has an established and verifiable handicap. Those without an established handicap will play as a zero until one can be established after the posting of three (3) 18-hole scores.

When: Thursdays (Weekly) with tee times beginning at 5:30 pm.

Where: Coldwater Golf Links, Ames, Iowa

Cost: $20 per man includes green fees, cart additional, prizes allocated as follows:

$1 - Purse (Team payouts for the top 25% of the field)
$1 - Skins (Individual Gross and Net)
$1 - Medallist (Gross)

$1 -kicker to The BIG GAME

Scoring: Net Stableford Scoring System:
Net Double Bogie or worse 0 points
Net Bogie 1 point
Net Par 2 points
Net Birdie 3 points
Net Eagle 4 points
Net Double Eagle 5 points

Payout to the top 25% of the field:(assuming 36 players)

1st Place Team -$16.20 (45%) ($5.40 per player)
2nd Place Team -$12.60 (35%) ($4.20 per player)

The BIG GAME “kicker” -$36

Hole in One: Anyone lucky enough to make a hole-in-one will receive $10 from each player in the field that day (out of pocket). And, of-course, the lucky player making the ace picks up the bar tab in the Coldwater Clubhouse. If 2 people make a hole-in-one, each one of them receives $10 from each player in the field that day. (In honor of the unfortunate member at Barton Creek who scored the second ace of the day in an event and got stuck with half of the bar tab, but received nothing due to having scored the second ace of the day.)

Format: 3-Man Teams (Blind Draw after the round in the Coldwater Clubhouse). If we have a number of players that does not make an even amount of 3-Man teams, the one or two players with the lowest point totals will not be included in the blind draw. Regarding pairings: Pairings will be random pairing assignments to assure that we play with different people each time. However, individuals may sign up with their preferred groups to play the 18 holes.

Tiebreaker: Ties will be broken by dropping the lowest individual point total from each of the tied teams. This process will be repeated until there is a winner.

Skins Pot: Skins will be determined by dividing the skins pot by the total gross and net skins.

Handicaps: Initially we will use established indexes. After a player has three (3) or more scores posted in “The GAME”, we will be using his “floating index”. A “floating index” is the average of a player’s most recent three (3) differentials.

Individual who do not have an established Handicap: Guests with established, verifiable indexes from other clubs will be capped at 36 Net-Stableford points until they have played in three or more games. After three scores are posted, the point cap is removed and the player’s floating index will be used in The GAME.

The BIG GAME: The BIG GAME will be considered the season finale. The “kicker” contributions throughout the year will serve as the purse. In order to be eligible to play in the BIG GAME, a player needs to have played in a minimum of eight (8) events throughout the season. You guys can do the math, and understand that this will be a very significant amount for the days play! The minimum number of events will not be compromised in order to reward the players that participate, giving them a chance to play for their season long contributions to THE GAME.
